Isidro Sánchez García-Figueras

Isidro Sánchez García-Figueras (born 17 December 1936 in Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz), simply Isidro, is a retired Spanish footballer who played as a defender.

Football career

During his 13-year professional career, Isidro played for three clubs: he started out in 1958 at Real Betis, scoring a career-best five goals - in only 15 matches - in his second season, helping the Andalusians to the sixth place.

In 1961, he joined La Liga powerhouse Real Madrid, being an important defensive unit as the capital side won four consecutive league titles, including the double in his first year.

After only one game in the 1964–65 season, aged nearly 29, Isidro switched to Catalonia and signed for CE Sabadell FC, where he would play until his retirement, in June 1971. During his career, he always played in the top level, and never suffered relegation, appearing in a total of 262 league games.
